  • 1 full sack of potatoes (Potatoes(10))
  • 8 empty sacks
  • 1 unlit candle (or black candle)
  • Yellow dye
  • Red dye
  • 10 silk
  • 1 bowl (obtainable on Entrana)
  • 12 willow branches
  • 10 normal logs
  • Tinderbox

Walkthrough

  1. Travel to Entrana by speaking to the monks on the second-most northern dock in Port Sarim. Remember that weapons and armour are not allowed on the island.

  1. Find Auguste on the western side of Entrana, just north of the Herblore shop, and talk to him. Agree to help with his balloon project.

  1. Use one piece of papyrus on the ball of wool to create a balloon structure.
  2. Use the unlit candle on the balloon structure to create an origami balloon. Do not light it.
  3. Talk to Auguste again. A short cutscene will play showing the launch of the origami balloon.
  4. Talk to Auguste once more and give him the remaining two pieces of papyrus together with the full sack of potatoes.
  5. A second cutscene will play in which the next balloon is attacked by an angry group of peasants.
  6. Go slightly south of Auguste to the sand pit. Use your eight empty sacks on the sand pit to fill them and create eight sandbags.

  1. Talk to Auguste and hand over the yellow dye, red dye, ten silk, the bowl, and the eight sandbags.
  2. (Optional) A bowl can be found upstairs in the house east of Auguste if you did not bring one.
  3. Leave Entrana and bank. Collect the remaining items: 12 willow branches, 10 normal logs, and a tinderbox. (You may also bring extra noted logs if you wish to unlock more balloon routes later.)
  4. Return to Entrana with the new items. Use a willow branch on the balloon basket on the platform next to Auguste. A cutscene will play and the log storage will appear.
  5. (Optional) Store any extra noted logs in the log storage crate.
  6. Talk to Auguste and choose the option to begin the flight. He will give you instructions on how to control the balloon.
  7. You will now enter the balloon control interface. There are three screens you must navigate safely.
  8. The controls work as follows: Drop sandbag = up 2 spaces, Burn log = up 1 space, Relax = move right with no height change, Normal rope = down 1 space, Red rope = down 2 spaces. Bail cancels the flight.
  9. Screen 1 recommended sequence: Drop a sandbag → Burn a log → Relax 9 times → Pull the red rope → Relax 2 times → Pull the brown rope → Relax 5 times.
  10. Screen 2 recommended sequence: Burn a log → Relax → Burn a log → Relax 10 times → Burn a log → Relax 5 times.
  11. Screen 3 recommended sequence: Relax 7 times → Pull the red rope → Pull the brown rope → Relax 3 times → Burn a log → Relax 4 times → Pull the brown rope.
  12. You must finish exactly one space above the landing pad with no gap. Landing on the pad itself or flying past it will cause a crash and you will need to restart with another 10 logs.
  13. Once you land successfully, talk to Auguste again.
  14. Speak to Auguste one final time to complete the quest and receive your rewards.

Balloon Controls & Flight Tips

Important: Fuel is limited. If you run out of sandbags or logs you can still Relax or pull the ropes. Focus on where the balloon will end up rather than how it appears to move.

Drop Sandbag: Raises the balloon two spaces.
Burn Log: Raises the balloon one space.
Relax: Moves the balloon one space to the right with no change in height.
Brown Rope: Lowers the balloon one space.
Red Rope: Lowers the balloon two spaces.

Completing the Quest

  1. After a successful landing, speak to Auguste.
  2. Finish the conversation to complete the quest and claim your rewards.

Rewards

  • 1 Quest Point
  • 2,000 Crafting experience
  • 3,000 Farming experience
  • 1,500 Woodcutting experience
  • 4,000 Firemaking experience
  • Bomber jacket and bomber cap
  • Access to the balloon transport system
  • Ability to create origami balloons
  • Option to combine gnome goggles with the bomber cap (talk to Auguste)

Tips

  • This quest can be finished in two trips to Entrana if you manage inventory carefully.
  • Do not light the origami balloon or you will have to gather the materials again.
  • If you crash during the flight, bring another 10 normal logs and talk to Auguste to try again.
  • Willow branches can be bought from the Grand Exchange or cut from a grown willow tree using secateurs.
  • All skill requirements must be boosted (if needed) before speaking to Auguste to start the quest.
  • Extra noted logs can be stored on Entrana for unlocking additional balloon routes after the quest.
