Walkthrough

1. Speak to King Lathas on the 1st floor of Ardougne Castle. He asks you to travel through the Underground Pass to stop his brother Tyras.

1. Travel to West Ardougne and talk to Koftik standing near the cave entrance.

1. Enter the cave and take the northern path (avoid the middle swamp route). Climb the rocks to reach Koftik by the fire.

1. Talk to Koftik again. He gives you an oily cloth. Use the oily cloth on an arrow, then light the arrow on the fire to create a fire arrow.
2. Go north to the subterranean river and shoot the fire arrow at the guide rope to drop the bridge. Cross the bridge.

1. Pick up the plank that spawns near the lever (do not pull the lever). Continue east.
2. Reach the pit with the rope swing. Use a rope on the overhanging rock to swing across. If you fail you lose the rope and must climb back up.

1. Continue east then south until you reach the grid puzzle. Carefully cross only the safe tiles (trial and error) and pull the lever on the far side to open the gate.
2. Pass through the narrow corridor with wall traps (disarm them or run through). Arrive at the room containing the altar and the well.

1. Collect the four orbs of light from the surrounding branches/corridors (use the plank on trapped sections where needed). Return to the furnace and destroy all four orbs in it.

1. Top up your prayer at the altar if desired, then climb down the well.

1. In the lower level, go west to the slave cages. Pick the lock on the south-east cage and dig the odd patch of ground with your spade to open a hidden tunnel.

1. Edge along the narrow ledge and navigate the Agility maze (or use the 50 Thieving shortcut on the southern gate). Squeeze through the pipe into the next area.

1. You may now safely drop your bow, arrows, spade, ropes and oily cloth — they are no longer needed.
2. Find the caged unicorn. Search the cage for a loose piece of railing. Go south up the path and use the railing on the boulder to crush the unicorn.

1. Search the smashed cage to obtain the unicorn horn. Drop the railing (no longer needed). Pass through the tunnel on the north wall.
2. Continue north and speak to the three paladins (Sir Carl, Sir Jerro and Sir Harry). They offer food. Kill them and collect their three coloured badges (safespotting is possible).

1. Head west through more traps (use the plank if you still have it) to the well. Read the inscription and offer the unicorn horn together with the three badges to open the Doors of Iban.

1. Enter Iban’s Lair. Walk south until you reach the end of the path then continue east until you reach the cave stairs. Descend the cave. Talk to Koftik then the three dwarves (Niloof, Klank and Kamen). Klank gives you sturdy gauntlets. Collect a tinderbox and a bucket from the nearby buildings. Fill the bucket with dwarf brew from the barrel.

1. Go south and ascend the cave stairs then walk east and then north until you reach the western pathway and go across it. Walk south towards the house and search the window.

1. Now go north from the house and then west, then north, then west then north again and pick up the Witch's cat. Now return to the house and use the Witch's cat with the door then immediately hide around the corner. Once the Witch has taken the cat inside, right-click the door and choose the Knock option.

1. Once inside the house search the chest to retrieve a book, a doll and two potions. Exit north from the house then take the western path and then take the southern path which is slanted upwards.
2. Kill the three demons (Doomion, Othainian and Holthion). Kill each of them (safespot on the pathways) and collect their amulets. Open the chest north of Doomion to obtain Iban’s shadow and add it to the doll. Now return to the far southern wall and descend the cave stairs as you did in the earlier steps (see above).
3. Speak to Klank and equip Klank’s gauntlets. Then head to the eastern house and use your Dwarf brew with the bucket.

1. Exit the house and walk east until you reach the Tomb. Use the Dwarf brew with the Tomb. Then use your Tinderbox with the Tomb. Use Iban's ashes with the Doll of Iban in your inventory.

1. Now head directly north from the Tomb and take the central corridor. At the end of the corridor you will reach Kalrag. Attack and kill Kalrag. You will automatically smear the Doll of Iban into the poisoned blood of Kalrag.

1. Now exit out of the central corridor and head north-west until you reach the cave stairs. Ascend the cave stairs.

1. Walk south until you reach the walkway with the bridge that you can cross. Cross the bridge then take the north path, then the east path, then north again and then take the west path. Search this particular cage to obtain Iban's dove. Note: You will take 10 damage at this point. Use Iban's dove with Doll of Iban.

1.  Exit from the pathways and go to the far east side of the cave. Go across the western pathway, then take the north then the western pathway, which will bend to the north and then eastwards. At the end of this eastward path take the northern path.

• Right at the end of the northern path, attack and kill the Disciple of Iban and then pick up the Zamorak monk top and Zamorak monk bottom. Wield both of these.

• Walk up to the temple and un-wield any weapons or armour, except for the Zamorak robes. Activate protect from mage and open the temple door. Now use your Doll of Iban with the Well. The temple will collapse in and you will be thrown downwards; simply walk west and speak to Koftik who will lead you back to the cave entrance. Return to King Lathas to complete the Quest!

1. After destroying Iban, speak to Koftik who will guide you out of the dungeon.
2. Return to King Lathas in Ardougne Castle and report your success to finish the quest.

Tips

• Bring at least two ropes in case you fail the rope swing.
• Summer pies are excellent for healing and boosting Agility temporarily.
• Use Protect from Melee in areas with spiders and ogres.
• Drop items you no longer need (bow, arrows, spade, rope, etc.) to free inventory space.
• Remember the safe path across the grid — you will need it again in later elf quests.
• Kamen sells food for 75 coins each; stock up if you run low.
• High Agility (50+) makes the quest significantly less frustrating.
